P4241328.JPG Just steps away from a northside housing area is land owned by the Department of Fish & Wildlife. A winding path takes hikers down to the valley where waters flow into the Little Spokane River. The hills have many springs, with one in particular a steady roar. A small dam creates a pond deep in the woods and in summer it’s not unusual to see young people hiking up the path in swim suits and towel in hand.
